Our Mission
Since 1983, the Mission of SFIC has been to provide partial tuition scholarships to enable low-income children living in the inner-cities and urban areas of Essex, Union, Hudson and Bergen counties to attend private and parochial schools. SFIC assists families who seek a safe and nurturing school environment where their children will have the opportunity to receive high quality academic and character development education.
Measuring Our Success
Student Academic Achievement: Elementary school students who attend parochial schools consistently attain higher achievement test scores in Language Arts and Math than their counterparts in neighboring public schools. High school students who attend parochial schools score markedly higher on the SAT tests than students in neighboring public schools. In addition, 100% of parochial high school seniors take the SAT tests, as opposed to only 50% at neighboring public schools.
High School Senior Survey: Our most recent Senior Surveys report that of the high school seniors assisted, 99% graduated and 97% were pursuing higher education.
Student Attendance: SFIC elementary school students have a 98% daily attendance rate and our high school students have a 97% daily attendance rate.
