Archdiocese hosts Black History Month Mass celebration

The Archdiocese of Newark celebrated Black History Month with a vibrant Mass on February 25th at Newark’s Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Embracing the national theme “African Americans and the Arts,” attendees joyfully participated, singing and dancing along with groups from various Black Catholic organizations. Choirs performed songs in English and African dialects, including the “Black National Anthem,” while ornate banners of Black saints-to-be decorated the altar steps. Many wore colorful cultural attire, honoring their African and Caribbean heritage.
