Director of Music/Organist/Cantor – Queen of Peace Church, North Arlington
General Description
The Director of Music/Organist/Cantor is expected to execute the highest professional standards of liturgical music, bring leadership in preparation of the liturgies and support the Gospel message through music, challenging and encouraging the assembly to live the message more fully. Serves the parish as principal musician, organist and choir director according to the highest professional standards established by this profession. Accompanies the assembly at various liturgies. Plans liturgical music for weekend liturgies, Holy Day liturgies, certain Solemnity and Feast Day liturgies and specified liturgies for the Queen of Peace Grammar School. Directs the various Parish choirs and directs and organizes the annual Queen of Peace Christmas Concert. Facility with traditional and contemporary music is essential.
Qualifications/Skills
- Bilingual Spanish/English
- Active member of a Roman Catholic parish faith community
- Knowledge of Roman Catholic liturgy including documents, music resources and familiarity with Lectionary and Sacramentary
- Experience in performing in public
- Facility in playing organ, including manual and pedal technique
Education and/or Experience
- Minimum of undergraduate degree in music and concentration in organ
- Requires some formal vocal/musical training to include the ability to read music
