Grandparents across the Archdiocese of Newark are invited to Treasures Among Us: Celebrating & Honoring Grandparents on Saturday, September 12th in Newark, N.J.
Discover how your love, wisdom, and witness continue to shape the faith of future generations.
This is a bilingual (English and Spanish) event that will include:
- Mass and Blessing of Grandparents celebrated by Cardinal Joseph Tobin, C.Ss.R. at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart at 5:00 p.m.
- Presentations by:
- Dr. Marylin Kravatz-Toolan, a lifelong faith formation consultant and mentor for grandparents, parents, and catechists (English)
- Deacon Asterio Velasco, Director for the Ministerio Hispano (Spanish)
- Faith resources available for purchase
- Light refreshments
This day will honor and recognize the invaluable vocation and witness of grandparents within our Church and families and offer practical ways for grandparents to share the faith with their family.
New or experienced grandparents and “grandparents-to-be” are warmly invited to this afternoon filled with faith, joy, and hope.
This event is hosted in honor of World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, celebrated in the United States the weekend of September 11-13, 2026, and is organized and sponsored by the Archdiocese of Newark’s Office of Family Life Ministry, Ministerio Hispano, Office of Lifelong Faith Formation, and Bayard.
