General Description
The Archdiocese of Newark is seeking a dynamic and motivated Managing Editor/News Content Producer to join its talented Office of Communications team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the archdiocese’s mission by sharing compelling faith-based stories, advancing evangelization efforts, and promoting the archbishop’s vision and priorities.
The Managing Editor/News Content Producer will play a key role in shaping the Archdiocese’s digital presence by creating engaging news and feature stories. This position is responsible for producing high-quality content for the Archdiocese’s various digital communication platforms, including its news site, Jersey Catholic.
Qualifications/Skills
- Must be a practicing Roman Catholic who upholds the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church, with the ability to integrate that knowledge into news coverage.
- Must possess excellent writing and editing skills, demonstrating strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must be a team player with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, fostering positive working relationships.
- Must excel in a fast-paced environment, capable of multi-tasking effectively and adapting quickly to changing priorities.
- Must maintain a polished professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, WordPress, Google Workspace, and Adobe Suite; experience with photography and video production is a plus.
- Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed and possess a valid driver’s license to cover stories throughout the Archdiocese of Newark, which spans Bergen, Essex, Union, and Hudson counties.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or a related field.
- A minimum of five years of experience in journalism, communications, or a related field.
