General Description

The Music Minister is expected to execute the highest professional standards of liturgical music, bring leadership in preparation of the liturgies and support the Gospel message through music, challenging and encouraging the assembly to live the message more fully.

Qualifications/Skills

• Choral Conducting Skills – experience directing different styles of groups (traditional choir, contemporary choir).
• Keyboard skills – proficiency in organ and or/piano.
• Vocal skills – ability to cantor and train others in cantoring and choral singing.
• Technical skills – knowledge and understanding of organs, sound systems, room acoustics, recording techniques, etc.
• Must be a person of prayer and liturgical sensitivity.
• Must have an understanding of the liturgical documents and current liturgical thought.
• Must have an understanding of the role of music in worship.
• Leadership ability.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Education and/or Experience

• Music degree or equivalent in experience.
• Minimum of five years experience.
• Experience as a choir conductor.
• Training as an organist/pianist.
