As the Catholic Deaf are increasingly identified and empowered by the “opening doors” of changing attitudes and federal civil rights legislation, the Archdiocesan Pastoral Ministry with the Deaf continues to grow in its spectrum of services offered to those who experience communication barriers to their spiritual and personal growth.
Services include:
- Signed and Interpreted Sunday Masses

- Religious Education for Deaf Children, Weddings, Pre-Cana, Baptisms, Individual and Couples Pastoral Counseling, Sacrament of Reconciliation, Signed wakes and funeral liturgies
- Pastoral visitation to isolated Deaf Seniors and hospital stays
- Religious Interpreter Trainings

- In-Service Deaf Awareness Trainings
- Liaison with parish leadership and clergy
- Personal instruction for Pre-Cana couples
- Quarterly newsletter: Ephatha (Be Open) In Progress
- Referrals to Catholic Charities programs, Immigration, legal, home-care, addiction recovery, governmental services and employment
- Referrals to Social Work Case Management
- Advice on A.D.A. requirements/compliance
- Socialization Opportunities
- Advocacy for the legal, spiritual and human rights of Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals
