Special Collection in Aid of Victims of Louisiana Flooding

We all have heard reports and seen images of the devastation following the powerful flooding in Louisiana. This natural disaster continues to cause concern because of challenges to the people and communities affected by the damage and loss of life.

It is fortunate that Catholic Charities USA, one of the most effective and prominent Catholic service organizations, is already involved in the relief now under way.   

Consequently, The Most Revered John J. Myers has authorized a special voluntary collection to be taken up in all parishes of the Archdiocese during the weekend of September 17-18 to aid the humanitarian and institutional needs of the people in Louisiana.

The Archbishop also urges the victims of this disaster to be remembered in the General Intercessions at Mass, and at all prayer services parish or school communities may be scheduling in the weeks to come.
