Families Still in Need This Christmas – Catholic Charities’ Help A Family Project
Through the ‘Help a Family at Christmas’ project, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark (CCAN) provides a unique and personal opportunity for an individual, family, parish community, school or organization to help critically needy families in the Newark Archdiocese who would not have Christmas without some outside support.
Catholic Charities staff in the four counties submits eligible client family profiles to the CCAN Emergency Food Network who coordinates the annual project. These families are linked with a donor who receives a profile of the family situation, first names, ages, sizes, and wish list. Donors are asked to provide 2-3 age appropriate gifts and grocery store gift cards for their selected family ($250 value for a family of four). The donor is also responsible for delivering the gifts to the Catholic Charities program one week before Christmas.
At this time, there are currently 25 families still in need of donors this Christmas, as well as the clients (30 single adults) in three of the Catholic Charities group homes.
