Mass of Thanks and Farewell for Archbishop Hebda

On Friday, April 29, the faithful of the Archdiocese of Newark will celebrate a special Mass of Thanks and Farewell at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark for The Most Reverend Bernard A. Hebda, former Coadjutor Bishop of Newark, whom Pope Francis appointed as the Ninth Archbishop of St. Paul and Minneapolis.

This Mass, set to begin at 7 p.m., is an opportunity for clergy, Religious and lay faithful of the Archdiocese to thank Archbishop Hebda for his nearly three years of service to the people of the Archdiocese as Coadjutor, and to pray for and with him as he begins his new ministry as Shepherd of the people of God of the local Church of St. Paul and Minneapolis.

Representatives of parishes throughout the Archdioceses are scheduled to attend.

A reception for the public will be held in the Archdiocesan Center on Clifton Avenue immediately following the Mass.
