A look around the retreat center
There are various options when developing a retreat program or other gathering at the retreat center. The St John Paul II Youth Retreat Center is available for programs that a group may design and implement independently. These programs may operate for a day, weekend, week, etc. in our year round facility.
The center also offers Archdiocesan prepared retreats and faith-based activities that include Archdiocesan Open Confirmation Retreats, Summer Service Experience, CYO Athletics, and Summer Camp. The retreat center includes two floors of modern sleeping facilities. The top floor sleeps 99 with each room including a private bathroom and shower. The middle floor sleeps up too 156 ‘dorm style’ with participants sharing common bathrooms that are equipped with 6 newly renovated shower stalls each.
The basement level of the center has 4 meeting rooms, each varying in size. The largest room can accommodate up to 180 people depending on setup needs. For large groups the center can also provide breakout rooms at an additional charge. There is a Chapel and sacristy on the basement level. The Marian Chapel on the basement floor can seat up to 95 people, while the St. John Paul Chapel on the middle floor off of our Prayer Garden also accommodate close to 100 people. For larger groups, the Sacred Heart Chapel (on premises) can hold over 200.
Located on the premise is an air-conditioned dining hall and gym, Challenge Course, outdoor swimming pool, and outdoor gathering areas. Convenient parking on premises is available. Gourmet breakfast, lunches, and dinners are available and prepared by our Chef and staff. They offer an arrangement of food that will satisfy any palate and special dietary needs.
Retreat Center Features
Conference Rooms
Be it a day retreat, an overnight retreat, or a small gathering for your school, parish or group the Retreat Center is able to handle it.
The Retreat Center has 14 rooms that accommodate groups as small as 10 members and up to as many as 180 comfortably. Virtually all of our conference rooms are fully equipped with a large screen TV, DVD/VCR and laptop connection. Multiple larger conference rooms are also equipped with projectors and sound systems.
For overnight accommodations, there are 2 meeting rooms on each sleeping floor available for the groups to use. Both have flat screen TVs with DVD/VCR and laptop connectivity. There are several other conference rooms are availble throughout the AYRC facility for single day programs.
The Dining Hall is also equipped with a sound system and video projection system. The Gym is available for rent for larger groups and is fully equipped with audio and video capabilities.
*Mac users should bring VGA adapters.
Sleeping Facilities
The Retreat Center has 2 separate floors of sleeping facilities to meet your needs.
The top floor has 16 bedrooms with 3 sets of bunk beds each for a total of 6 beds per room. There are also 3 single VIP rooms located on this level. All the rooms all have private bathrooms. The middle floor has 16 bedrooms with 140 beds, and 2 private guest rooms (6 beds each) with private baths. The floor also has 2 common bathrooms equipped with 6 shower stalls in each. Our Bathrooms on this floor were completely redone and remodeled in 2012.
Each floor has 3 meeting rooms available to the overnight groups for gathering time. Each floor is also equipped with a kitchenette for the group to utilize. Meeting rooms have flat screen TVs with DVD/VCR and laptop connectivity options. *Mac users should bring a VGA adapter. Linens can be provided at an extra charge. The lower level of the facility has breakout rooms available to use at an additional charge.
Chapels
Our beautiful in-house Chapels provide a comfortable and prayerful atmosphere for your retreatants.
The Marian Chapel is located on the basement (parking lot) level of the Retreat Center and seats close to 100. The Sacred Heart Chapel (church building) is located on our grounds and is available for large groups up to 250. The Saint John Paul II Chapel is newly renovated and seats 100. Since we often have multiple groups onsite at any one time, chapel times must be reserved in advance.
Dining Hall
We strive to serve your group’s needs with our excellent food service.
All of our meals are prepared and served in our dining hall facility, which has a seating capacity of over 200 people. Gourmet breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are available and prepared by our dinning hall Food Director and staff. We can offer an arrangement of food that will satisfy any palate. Our Chef can also accommodate any special dietary needs your group might have. The Dining Hall is also fully equipped with a sound system and video projection system should you wish to have a luncheon or dinner event.
Gymnasium Building
Our full-size Gym can be used by large retreat groups or for large gatherings and events, conferences, etc.
By Fire Code the maximum amount of people in chairs that the Gym can accommodate is 550.The gym has a full size regulation basketball court, a high school regulation volleyball court and portable bleachers. There is also stage with lighting, and full A/V capability. There are also several breakout and meeting rooms located in Sacred Heart Hall – the space below the Gym. There is also a kitchen in the gym building.
