Concert to Raise Scholarship Funds For Low-Income Students

Fall Benefit Concert presented by ConnectOne Bank will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the prestigious Enlow Hall located on the campus of Kean University. Through the generosity of our corporate partners, the Scholarship Fund for Inner-City (SFIC) is proud to share that 100% of the evening’s proceeds will go directly toward providing low-income children in grades K-12 with partial-tuition scholarships so they may attend private and parochial schools in Northern New Jersey. The evening will start with a cocktail reception at 6:00 p.m. and the concert at 7:45 p.m. Free valet parking will be provided for convenience.

The SFIC Fall Benefit Concert will feature acclaimed operatic soprano Maureen Francis, and the popular Tim McLoone and The Shirleys.  In addition, two of New Jersey’s most celebrated high school choirs, The Dominoes from Saint Dominic Academy and VOX of Saint Peter’s Prep.

Maureen Francis, a resident of Westfield, has performed at

Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, The National Cathedral in Washington D.C., New Jersey Choral Art Society and New Jersey Festival Orchestra to name a few. In addition, among her many acting performances Ms. Francis has performed in the Los Angeles Opera and Lincoln Center Festival as Dragonette in Grendel, and Mabel in Pirates of Penzance.

Tim McLoone and The Shirleys are a dynamic blend of rhythm and blues, classic rock, country and Broadway with a healthy dose of “girl group” attitude. When not operating as a successful restaurateur, Tim can be seen performing at hundreds of charitable events throughout the year with The Shirleys as well as Holiday Express.

The Dominoes of Saint Dominic Academy located in Jersey City are a nationally-renowned female choir. They have performed nine times at Carnegie Hall, as well as Lincoln Center for The Performing Arts, before the General Assembly of the United Nations, the Waldorf Astoria, and were also honored to be the opening performance at Radio City Music Hall for their Annual Christmas Spectacular

VOX of Saint Peter’s Prep in Jersey City is a premier all-boys choir that performs both nationally and internationally. In addition to singing at all Prep events and liturgies, Vox performs every year at the Newport and Short Hills Malls during the Christmas season. Most recently, VOX competed at the Heritage Musical Festival in New York, DC, and Boston and were gold medal winners at the 2015 World Choir Games.

Appropriately dubbed “An Evening of Cocktails, Hors d’oeuvres, and Music”, tickets may be purchased by visiting the Kean University Box Office at www.keanstage.com/SFIC or calling the ticket office at 908-787-7469.
