Mass of Thanksgiving for Archbishop Myers

On Wednesday, October 12, The Most Reverend John J. Myers, Archbishop of Newark, will be the principal celebrant of a special Mass of Thanksgiving to mark a number of milestone anniversaries in His Grace’s priestly life that have or will occur in the year 2016:

  • 75th Birthday (July 26)
  • 29th Anniversary of Ordination as a Bishop (September 3)
  • 15th Anniversary of Installation as Archbishop of Newark (October 9)
  • 50th Anniversary of Ordination as a Priest (December 17)

The Mass, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Clifton and Victoria Avenues, Newark, is an opportunity for Clergy, Religious and Lay faithful of the Archdiocese to thank Archbishop Myers for his spiritual leadership of this local Church of Newark, and to pray for and with him as he continues to serve the universal Church in priestly and episcopal ministry.   

Representatives of parishes throughout the Archdioceses are scheduled to attend.

A reception for the public will be held in the Archdiocesan Center on Clifton Avenue immediately following the Mass.
