Oritani Bank Foundation Awards Grant to Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children

The Oritani Bank Foundation recently awarded $15,000 to The Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children (SFIC), a non-profit organization located in Newark, NJ. The mission of the SFIC is to provide low-income students a partial tuition scholarship to attend private or parochial schools in Bergen, Essex, Hudson and Union County.

This grant will benefit five students with a $1,000 general scholarship for the 2016-2017 school year and one high school freshman attending a school in Hudson County with a $2,500 annual partial-tuition scholarship for four years.

“We are so grateful for the support of Oritani Bank Foundation,” said Gerard T. O’Connor, Executive Director of The Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children. “The students and families who are the recipients of Oritani Bank’s generosity are so appreciative for the opportunity to provide a quality, values-based education for their children.”

O’Connor added, “Oritiani’s contribution has enabled The Scholarship Fund to provide support to additional families seeking academic excellence in a safe environment for their children. Oritani’s funding positively impacts our students’ future success.”
